The Historic Message Church in Portland Oregon is a fellowship of Bible-believing Christians that has been meeting since the Spring of 1995. We, along with many like believers around the world, hold among other Biblical teachings – the following distinguishing points:
THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
- The nearness of the 2nd Coming of Christ to this earth. (Matthew 24, II Timothy 3:1-5)
- That we cannot know precisely when He will come. (Matthew 24:36)
- That His coming will be from Heaven and visible to all. (Matthew 24:23-27, Acts 1:11, Revelation 1:7)
- That Jesus Christ will raise those who have died in Him from their sleep of death to live with Him in Heaven from that time forward. (I Corinthians 15:52, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, John 11:24)
THE LORD’S DAY
- A belief in the sanctity of the Lord’s Seventh-Day Sabbath: established by God and given to all mankind at creation. (Genesis 2:3)
- Detailed in God’s holy Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20:8-11)
- Kept by Jesus. (Luke 4:16)
- Affirmed in the New Testament. (Acts 17:2 and Hebrews 4:4-11)
- Honored in the future. (Isaiah 66:22,23)
THE THREE ANGELS’ MESSAGES
- That God has a special message of warning to those who live on the earth in these last days and that this message is given signal importance by the representation of 3 Angels. (Revelation 14:6-12)
- That this message is a message of Judgment (Revelation 14:7) and warning of eternal death. (Revelation 14:8-11)
- That God distinguishes as His own those who have the “faith of Jesus” and “keep the commandments of God”. (Revelation 14:12)
SALVATION
- That we are saved only by the Grace of God made possible by the blood of Jesus. (Ephesians 2:8,9)
- That this grace covers our past sins and gives us power to obey God’s holy Law. (I John 1:9)
- That the evidence of our faith and loyalty to God’s government is seen in our obedience to God’s holy Law. (James 2:17-20)
- That the validity of God’s law remains. (Matthew 5:18 / Romans 3:31)
- While the Old Testament system of sacrifices and feast days was made obsolete at the cross. (Matthew 27:51, Colossians 2:13-17)
